PRACTICALITIES

Initial meeting

The initial appointment is fundamental for both the therapist and you to make a decision whether to work together. It’s also the opportunity for you to ask questions, find out more about the therapeutic process, talk about what you hope to get out of it and agree a desirable outcome that we both feel is realistic and achievable. If you decide to continue with a psychotherapy or counselling programme, you will be asked to commit to attending regular sessions. Different rules may apply to coaching contracts, and these will be agreed at the initial session.

Duration and frequency of sessions

Once weekly sessions are the norm, although there will be times when it may be clinically appropriate to have sessions more or less frequently. The standard length is 50 minutes. Sessions can continue for a limited period of time or on an open-ended basis for more in-depth analytic work. We will discuss the potential duration of our work during the initial meeting and this can be reviewed at any stage.

Cancellations and missed sessions

Once the first  appointment has been booked, we require at least 24 hours notice if you decide to cancel, otherwise the full agreed fee is payable.

This also applies to late cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances and illness.  We require regular attendance for subsequent sessions, so any  cancellations and missed sessions are to be paid in full. Whenever possible, we will offer an alternative time later in the week if the session would otherwise be missed.

Fees

Our standard fees vary between £60-£80 for individual therapy and £70-90 for couple therapy. Fees are calculated depending on the time and day of the regular slot requested, as well as personal financial circumstances.

Locations

We practise at a number of locations across London (see Contact page) and also via video call on Skype with clients who cannot travel to one of our locations on a regular basis.
